Delhi Cantonment Board and Delhi Circle Defense Estate Officer jointly took the action against on-going unauthorised construction in the presence of DCB chief Brigadier N Balan, who is also the Station Commander of the area.
CEO and DEO had issued about 40 notices to the offenders who were carrying out illegal construction activity in the area.
"Four premises were sealed in Delhi Cantonment Area peacefully today. The notices were issued for sealing of three properties at Sadar Bazar under the DCB management and DEO, Delhi Circle issued while one notice for sealing of massive construction at Chanan Singh Park area," a statement from the DCB said.
The illegal construction activity were going on despite the notices to stop so the cases were referred to Estate Officer for initiating action under provisions of Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorised Occupants) Act, 1971.
"First phase of sealing of the properties has been accomplished and in the next phase properties of bad offenders would be sealed first," the statement said.
Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit had earlier requested Minister of State for Defence M M Pallam Raju to take a "humane approach" in dealing with close to 50 families in Delhi Cantonment area who were served show cause notices for alleged encroachment and "illegal" construction.
