In a major decision, the Goa government today suspended four senior officers attached to a remand home for juveniles after they were found to be involved in gross misconduct.
The Directorate of Women and Child Development has suspended four officers of Apna Ghar and transferred 31 more staff to different locations.
Apna Ghar has landed into controversies after a spate of escapes and also for misconduct.
"Inspite of clear directions the officers/officials failed to carry out their duties properly and due to that huge pendency is lying in the department," the suspension order, copy of which is with PTI, reads.
The order also mentions that officers are irregular in their office timings, very arrogant, full of misconduct and misbehaviour and they totally lack subject knowledge.
The suspended officials include head clerk of Apna Ghar Sakharam Pednekar and other staff including Ruth Almeida, Dilip Kudalkar and Anant Naik.
The state run facility which is located on the outskirts of Panaji was in the news following frequent escapes of its inmates.
The state government constituted Lavison Martins committee had also pointed out a nexus between officials and criminals due to which the situation had worsened.
