The accused Karan (20), Arjun (20), Anand Kumar (21) and Manish Kumar (19) are students of B.Tech, BCA and BBA at prestigious educational institutions and beside the robbed canter, cash of Rs 4,900, mobile phone and a Swift Dzire car used in the commission of the crime has been recovered from them.
The police said that at around 5.15 AM today, a PCR call regarding quarrel near Mahipalpur flyover was received at Vasant Kunj South police station after which the police team reached at the spot where they met complainant Pramod Kumar, a resident of Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh.
"When he reached near Mahipalpur flyover, a car hit his canter from rear side. When he stopped the canter at roadside, four boys came out of the car and started beating him. They robbed his purse containing cash Rs 4,900, mobile phone and canter and escaped from the spot," a police officer said.
He said while the boys were escaping, Kumar noted down the registration number of their car after which registration number of the robbed canter as well as the car was flashed on wireless.
"During interrogation, accused Manish Kumar confessed his involvement in the robbery along with co-accused Karan, Arjun and Anand Kumar. At the instance of accused Manish Kumar, co-accused were arrested and robbed cash Rs 4900, mobile phone, canter duly loaded with spare parts and Swift Dzire car used in crime was recovered," the officer added.
