Four women have been rescued from a brothel in Central Delhi's GB Road area, police said today.
According to the police, the four victims who are between 26 to 30 years of age and hail from Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and Maharashtra, were rescued from the red light area after a tip off last night.
"These women were brought to Delhi on the pretext of providing them job, but instead, they were sold at brothel number 41 in GB Road area. We have contacted the families of these women, we are making efforts to reunite them with their relatives," said a police official.
Two of these women were brought from Andhra Pradesh around one-and-half year ago while one was brought from West Bengal approximately a year ago. The fourth woman was brought here just a week ago from Solapur in Maharashtra, he said.
A case under relevant sections of the IPC has been registered and the hunt is on for the people who brought these women here and sold them, police said.
