The accused, Rakesh Verma, was arrested today from near a wine shop in Una town in the district, they said.
"The incident took place last evening when Verma forcibly took away the girl from her labourer parents and later sexually assaulted her at the Town Hall public garden," Khargone SP N P Warkade said, adding that the victim and her parents were going to Indore.
The victim was rushed to a hospital in Indore in a serious condition, he said.
