Senior Congress leader Rajinder Kaur Bhattal today demanded from the SAD-BJP state government to frame a "rational" toll policy in Punjab besides scrapping of such booths leading to the holy city of Anandpur Sahib in the state.
Addressing mediapersons here, Bhattal said Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal should ensure a rational toll policy for roads in Punjab.
She alleged that there was no toll plaza in the home constituencies of Badal and Union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal.
The former Punjab Chief Minister demanded to remove toll plazas set up on the roads leading to holy city of Anandpur Sahib and Mata Naina Devi temple, saying devotees visiting the religious places were being charged high toll fee.
Bhattal also accused the SAD-BJP government of ruining the state's financial health and alleged that state government was imposing taxes on people rather than curbing its own wasteful expenditure.
To a question on reported differences among state Congress leaders, she described this issue as "not very serious", adding that all groups will come on a single platform when Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi visits the state.
