Free eye care to corporation school students
Press Trust of India Coimbatore The Sankara Eye Care Centre here today entered into an agreement with the City Corporation for providing free eye treatment and also to provide spectacles if necessary to the students of Corporation Schools.
By the agreement, claimed to be the first of its kind in the Country, Sankara will also provide free treatment to the mothers and new born babies in the maternity homes and also various health centres run by the Corporation, Mayor P Rajkumar announced today.
There are 83 corporation schools in the city, with more than 23,000 students, he said.
The corporation is covering 20 maternity homes, 11 general hospitals, two Sidda and three Ayurveda Health centre and added Sankara to the list, he said.
The agreement was signed by Rajkumar and S V Balasubramanian, Chairman, Sankara Eye Care Centre, in the presence of R V Ramani, Executive Managing Trustee of the Centre and office bearers of Coimbatore Rotary Club the sponsors.
