Free nutritional supplements likely for MDR-TB patients in

The Punjab government today said it has taken an in-principle decision to provide free nutritional supplements to people suffering from multi-drug- resistant tuberculosis to eliminiate the disease from the state by 2025.
The patients of MDR TB, as well as extensively drug- resistant (XDR) TB, will be issued blue-coloured cards so that they can get subsidised ration under the state government's Atta-Dal scheme, Health Minister Brahm Mohindra said.
The minister said the step was part of the state's goal to eliminate the menace by 2025.
Besides, Punjab has also been providing free diagnostic and treatment services to the entire population, the minister said while speaking at the National Review Meeting of Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme (RNTCP) here.
