FreeCharge ties up with national oil cos

Digital payments platform FreeCharge today announced partnerships with the national oil companies under which its wallets will be allowed to pay for fuel purchase.
The agreement covers all the petrol pumps of IndianOil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum across the country, the company said in a statement.
FreeCharge is already live at many HPCL pumps.
This agreement includes nearly 26,000 petrol pumps of IOC, 13,500 of HPCL and 13,800 filling stations of BPCL.
In addition, FreeCharge will also be accepted at nearly 17,000 LPG distribution centres across the country and users will also be able to pay for their cooking gas cylinders by using FreeCharge at their doorsteps.

"The government resolve to accelerate and strengthen the creation of a digital economy is a historic step and we are proud to partner in this endeavour," FreeCharge Chief Executive Govind Rajan said.

Customers will be able to pay at fuel pumps by scanning the QR code displayed at the outlets. LPG users will be able to pay by scanning the QR code that delivery boys will carry when they bring the cylinders to customers doorstep.
Meanwhile, FreeCharge said its mobile wallet will be accepted at the Yamuna Expressway which links Delhi and Agra.
Users can now pay toll charges via FreeCharge on this 165 km long, 6-laned access controlled expressway with facilities of 4 toll plazas and 6 interchanges along the entire length, it said in a statement.
