Freedom fighter Gundappa Murumkar dies

Veteran freedom fighter Gundappa Bhujangappa Murumkar passed away at his residence at a village in Maharashtra's Osmanabad district this morning, family sources said.
The 97-year-old freedom fighter is survived by four sons, two daughters and grand children.
Murumkar died following old age-related problems at his residence in Jewali village of Lohara tehsil in Osmanabad.
He actively participated in the country's freedom movement and the Hyderabad liberation struggle. He was the chief of 'Wagdari camp', the group of freedom fighters actively working underground which was never traced by the then Nizam State Army.
He was rewarded by the Indian government for his freedom struggle.
Murumkar, who worked as a post master as well as a Hindi teacher, was popularly known as "Vedanti Guruji" for his spiritual knowledge.
