Freedom fighters' children can represent in welfare committees
Press Trust of India Chandigarh Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today gave his nod to give due representation to children and grand children of freedom fighters in various district level welfare committees.
A spokesperson today said that Badal gave his nod to the proposal mooted by the Secretary, Freedom Fighters, realising the problem of ageing and fragile health of freedom fighters, as nearly 500 of them have already crossed the age of 85 and were unable to represent themselves in these committees.
Therefore, the state government has now decided to give due representation to children and grand children of the freedom fighters in their place.
The Chief Minister also approved the proposal to extend free travelling facility in the state-run air-conditioned buses to freedom fighters and their legal heirs, the spokesperson added.
