Freedom of speech comes with responsibility and activities on social media should unite rather than divide, Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar said today against the backdrop of murder of an techie in Pune.

"Freedom of speech & expression comes with responsibility. #SocialMedia activities should b(e) for Unity & Peace;Never for dividing Society," Javadekar tweeted.

His comment came against the backdrop of murder a 28-year-old Pune resident, who was allegedly killed during protests after some unknown people uploaded objectionable post on the Facebook last week.

This was followed by tensions in parts of Pune last night after another Facebook post, containing derogatory references against a prominent national figure, surfaced on the social networking site.
