Transporters said increased cargo movements against less availability of trucks mainly led to the rise in freight rates.
Freight rates from Delhi to Coimbatore, Kochi and Thirunvananthapuram went up by Rs 1,000 each to Rs 66,000, Rs 69,000 and Rs 78,000.
Rates to Chandigarh, Ludhiana and Jaipur were also up by Rs 500 each to Rs 14,000, Rs 16,500 and Rs 13,000, respectively.
