French delegation calls on Punjab Governor

French envoy Alexandre Ziegler today said his country would extend all possible cooperation and share the latest technical know-how in different areas of interest with Punjab.
The Ambassador of France led a delegation, comprising Jean Yves Le Drian, Defence Minister of France, which called on Punjab Governor V P Singh Badnore here.
Ziegler assured the Governor that France would extend all possible cooperation and extend a helping hand in sharing the latest technical know-how in the areas of your interest, a Raj Bhavan release said.
Discussing various issues at length, the Governor said there was a major scope of cooperation in the areas of sustainable development, particularly in transport, waste management and urban development, it said.
Underlining "segregation of waste" as the most important area of interest, Badnore told the French delegation: "We need latest technology in this field."
The Governor also told the delegation that Punjab is interested in making Chandigarh the "smartest city" in the country.
He said Chandigarh is not a very big city and is not interested in Metro and asked the French delegation to share technology for development of other modes of transportation.
The visiting delegation was presented a model of the Golden temple the Punjab Governor, the release said.
