French parliament approves extension of 3-month emergency

French lawmakers gave near-unanimous backing today to a three-month extension of the state of emergency introduced following the attacks in Paris in which 130 people died.
The upper house of parliament, the Senate, voted 336 to 12 in favour of a bill passed by the lower house of parliament on yesterday.
