Christophe Charles Rodriguez was declared dead on arrival at the district headquarter hospital this morning.
The French embassy has been informed about the incident.
The tourist was suffering from some skin disease and was undergoing treatment while staying alone at the hotel for last three months, City DSP Pravat Routray said.
Though he was supposed to leave Puri on June 18, he could not due to illness, police said.
Postmortem would be carried tomorrow after arrival of officials from French embassy.
