Thousands of residents of Karimabad and adjoining areas took to streets this morning to protest against the alleged nocturnal raids conducted by security forces, a police official said.
The protestors started pelting stones at the security forces who retaliated by firing tear smoke shells and pellet guns, he said.
Twenty injured persons have been referred to various hospitals in the city, the official said.

Meanwhile, a youth injured in firing by security forces last month, succumbed to injuries today, taking the death toll in the ongoing unrest in Kashmir to 76, police said.
He said the bullet injury had necessitated amputation of his leg which caused renal complications, leading to his death this afternoon at SKIMS hospital here.
Violent protests started across Kashmir valley on July 9, a day after Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani was killed in an encounter with security forces.
