A Delhi Assembly panel today asked the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) to conduct a fresh survey to check the allocation of temporary houses to people moved to transit camps in Anand Parvat from Kathputli Colony.

The matter was forwarded to the petition committee after Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had last month visited the site and found mismanagement in the maintenance of the facilities and houses in Kathputli, sources said.

DUSIB has been asked to do the survey afresh to check eligibility of over 700 persons who have claimed to be eligible for accommodation, they said.

Also, a private builder looking after the transit camp arrangements has been directed to improve condition there and file a report.

Kathputli Colony is Delhi's first in-situ slum rehabilitation project, residents of which, mostly artisans, will be relocated in the same area in high-rise buildings.

While the project is being built on public-private partnership model by a builder, the residents are being kept on temporary basis in camps at Anand Parbat which is located around 2 kms from Kathputli Colony.

"After the complaint, the committee chairman directed the DUSIB CEO to re-survey the allocation of temporary houses to the people displaced at transit camp so that it can be ascertained whether all were given temporary settlement or not," one of the sources said.

A government official said that the directions of the committee would be put in the board's meeting which is chaired by Kejriwal.
