The session would be held from June 8 to July 2. After a short recess, it would meet again from July 20 to July 30, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy told reporters after a cabinet meeting which decided to recommend the Governor to call the session.
The sitting assumes significance as it is the first session to be held after the unprecedented bedlam over the bar bribery licence scam on March 13 when Finance Minister K M Mani presented the budget.
CPI-M led LDF opposition members who protested the presentation of the budget by Mani, facing charges of corruption in the bar scam, created ruckus in the assembly and even ransacked Speaker's podium. There were also scuffle between MLA's of ruling and opposition benches.
LDF in the state was on warpath demanding resignation of Mani for his alleged involvement in the bar scam.
A few women MLAs' of LDF opposition had complained that they were physically harassed by certain Ruling MLAs during the uproar in the assembly.
