Tawadkar told the Assembly that an assistance of Rs 82 crore had been sanctioned by the Planning Commission for setting up infrastructure for the National Games.
The earlier Congress government in Goa had planned to set up the sports city at Dhargal village in Pernem taluka and other infrastructure at various other areas in the state, but now the Manohar Parrikar-led government has said that it will rework the plans about the sports city.
The Centre had released grants of Rs 12 crore in 2010, Rs 35 crore in 2011 and Rs 35 crore on February 9, 2012, the minister said.
"So far no amount could be utilised as no infrastructural projects pertaining to 36th National Games, 2014 could be executed," Tawadkar said, adding that the entire Rs 82 crore is with the Directorate of Accounts, under the head of Additional Central Assistance.
