"As areas now fall under the Noida and the Greater Noida authorities, the district magistrate, B N Singh, had written to them to provide sanitation staff for the schools. A reminder regarding which was sent today," District Basic Education Officer Parvesh Kumar Yadav said here.
More than 250 junior high schools in the district are facing a tough time in keeping their campuses clean without sanitation workers, president of Junior High School Teachers Association, Niranjan Singh Nagar, claimed.
"Earlier, the village pradhans used to appoint 'safai karamcharis'. But after the system ended, the pradhans say they do not have the power to make the appointments," Nagar said.
The reminder was sent following a meeting between members of the Association and the Gautam Buddha Nagar Basic Education Officer on Friday.
