"Quality education and autonomy in education is the need of the country. We don't want politics of any political party in the university premises and in colleges we only give education--education for the country, character building, knowledge and socio-economic transformation," Gadkari said here.
The Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, who is known for his proximity with top RSS leadership, was addressing the National Education Workshop being organised by Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas, founded by Batra.
Batra has forwarded 20-odd recommendations to the HRD Ministry headed by Smriti Irani which is expected to unveil its new education policy of the NDA government in December this year.
"The first and important recommendation that I have forwarded to the HRD Minister is that education should be autonomous. There should be autonomy of education on the pattern of Election Commission and the Supreme Court," Batra had told reporters at Ernakulam Press Club yesterday.

"There should be no politics in the field of education but there should be education in politics. The politicians should not interfere in education," he had said.
At the function, Gadkari presented the Madhan Mohan Malavia National Education Award instituted by Batra's organisation to Mata Amritanadamayi Math considering its contributions in providing quality education based on Indian values.
