Goa government has ruled out any action against the staff concerned for "erroneously" dropping Gandhi Jayanti, which falls on October 2, from the list of commercial and industrial holidays last year.
"The question of taking action on any officials did not arise," Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar told the Legislative Assembly today.
Responding to a question tabled by Independent MLA Vijay Sardessai, the CM said there was an error made during printing of the official list of holidays for 2015.
"In the list of public holidays, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi (which falls) on October 2 has been declared as a public holiday for the state of Goa. However, in the list of commercial and industrial holidays by oversight Gandhi Jayanti did not figure in the list," Parsekar said.
"Corrigendum to this effect has been issued to the list of Commercial and Industrial Holidays for year 2015," he added.
Not figuring of Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary in the list of holidays had caused a major controversy.
