Ganesh fest outside mosque to continue as talks resolve issue

Members of Hindu and Muslim communities reached an understanding in Praapnagar locality in the city, which has allowed continuation of installation of Ganesh idol outside the Idgah Masjid compound for the fourth year in a row.
Ganesh idol is installed outside the mosque since 2012.
However, this year Eid falls during the Ganesh festival and some members of the Muslim community had reservations about the installation of idol right next to the mosque.
But the issue was resolved amicably as the Ganesh mandal members said they would ensure that the idol wouldn't be visible to the Muslim devotees during the namaaz on Eid day, said the city police commissioner E Radhakrishna.
