The protracted immersion procession of Lord Ganesh idols in Hyderabad, following the conclusion of Vinayaka Chaturthi festivities, is expected to end tonight.
The immersion of thousands of idols of various sizes and forms began yesterday, but continued till tonight as the traffic moved at snail's pace.
Thousands of idols have already been immersed in the Hussain Sagar lake, the main water body for 'nimajjanam' and the remaining would be immersed tonight.
The centre of attraction in the event is the 59-ft tall idol at Khairatabad, which began its journey this afternoon and utmost care was being taken to ensure that the ritual passes off smoothly.
Police and the administration made elaborate arrangements for the immersion of idols at Hussain Sagar lake and several other water bodies in and around Hyderabad.
