"The mastermind of the gang, Mukund Yadav (22), ran a call centre at Rani Bagh where telecallers contacted potential customers and field boys collected insurance money and delivered forged papers," said Vijay Singh, DCP of New Delhi district police.
Mukund had collected client data through data vendors. The female telecallers of his call centre used to call persons whose vehicle insurance were going to expire and the field boys would collect money and delivered fake insurance receipts to the clients, Singh said.
The duo identified as Salman Ansari and Ilshad Ahmad, confessed their act during investigation and led the police to Mukund Yadav.
A case was registered under various sections of IPC and Copy Right Act at BK Road police station.
A computer with printer, forged vehicle insurance premium receipts, Rs 8000 and client data were recovered when police raided the call centre at Rani Bagh, he said.
