A three member gang made a futile bid to rob a nationalised bank at Sattankulam area in the district and one among them has been arrested, police said.
The trio's bid late last night to rob the Indian Overseas Bank branch at the town failed after the alarm went off, alerting neigbours who informed police. The gang then dumped their tools and fled the spot.
A police team which rushed to the spot with a sniffer dog caught one of them after a chase.
A search is on to nab the other two, police said.
