Gang involved in compromising competitive exams busted

Bihar police today busted a gang allegedly involved in leaking question papers of competitive examinations across the country and arrested three of them.
Patna City Superintendent of Police Satyaveer Singh said the arrested confessed to have been involved in leaking question papers of examinations conducted by Coal India Limited held earlier this year, medical entrance examination in Chhattisgarh and assistant station master (ASM) recruitment examination in Jaipur.
He, however, did not divulge details for the sake of investigation.
The three had come to the city to collect money from some of the 'successful candidates' of the Coal India Limited Examination when the police, acting on specific intelligence, laid a trap and arrested the three, Senior Superintendent of Police Jitendra Rana said.
The three have been identified as residents of Bihar and confessed to have also supplied imposter candidates, called 'scholars' by them, to write the examinations of the candidates, the SSP said.
A large number of documents related to various competitive examinations, Rs 7.98 lakh cash, photograps of several candidates and eight mobile phones were seized from them.

Police also seized the vehicle they were travelling in.
"We are investigating the matter and conducting raids to nab other members of the gang," said Rana.
The police officers said a probe has been launched to find out the extent of the gang's involvement in the examinations. Their bank accounts and contacts are also being examined to trace the source of their wealth.
One of the three had been arrested for compromising examinations in Chhatisgarh earlier, Singh said.
