A gang of carjackers who used to rob motorists after posing as policemen and stopping them on the pretext of checking vehicles has been busted with the arrest of three alleged members, police said today.
The accused, identified as Ajimuddin (24), Jatin Arora (21) and Dharmender (22), were arrested by Nand Nagri police on Saturday.
According to police, a tip-off was received that three members of a gang of carjackers bearing illegal arms will pass through 100-Feet Road from Tahirpur side.
"Our team barricaded the road and three suspects were stopped. During checking, the driver of the car got out and took out a knife and threatened the policemen. All three were thereafter frisked and a loaded country-made pistol of .315 bore and another loaded country-made pistol of .12 bore with one extra live cartridge were recovered from their possession," said a senior police official.
A search of their car yielded one khaki jacket, a hand blinker light and a pair of military-camouflage trousers.
