Acting on a tip off, the police initially came to know about some robbers hiding in Nihaal village and planning to commit a robbery. After exchange of fire, they raided the house and rounded all of them, SHO Sahvez Khan said.
According to police, they came to know only after interrogation that they were not robbers but cattle thieves.
The gang leader, Meer Hasan, has confessed that the group was wanted in several cases of cattle theft, the SHO said, adding, they used to butcher the bovines and sell the meat to customers.
