Gang of thieves busted; seven arrested

The Bihar police today arrested seven persons in East Champaran district who were part of a gang involved in theft of electronic goods and vehicles.
East Champaran Superintendent of Police Sunil Kumar said 14 computer monitors, six CPUs, six printers, inverters, amplifiers, sound-boxes, LED television sets, DVD players, several other gadgets and an SUV have been recovered from them.
"The recovered gadgets are worth Rs 10 lakh and include equipment stolen from a government high school a week ago. The kingpin of the gang is Ramayan Mahto, while the others have been identified as Guddu Kumar, Deepak Kumar, Sonu Kumar, Awadhesh Yadav, Rahul Kumar and Deepak Kumar," the SP said.
The SP also added that the gang of thieves indulged in inter-state thefts, and used to survey the targeted place beforehand. They are being interrogated for more information.
In another incident, the police today arrested two persons who were stealing diesel from a petrol pump at Tetaria Road under Rajepur police station. Around 2,700 litres of diesel worth about Rs 1.5 lakh and two vans have been seized from them.
"The two persons, identified as Shyam Charan and Ali Hasan, are from Uttar Pradesh. They had managed to insert a 300-metre-long pipe into the tank at the petrol pump, and were siphoning off diesel into big plastic vessels," the SP said.
