Gang sending people abroad illegally, busted

Police today busted a gang allegedly involved in sending people abroad illegally, and arrested eight persons, including a former foreign embassy employee and a former airline shift supervisor.
The accused had been identified as Sanjiv Kumar alias Sameer Malhotra, Gulshan Kumar, Mohit Sharma, Charan Davinder Singh, Aman Kumar, Davinder Pal Singh, Jai Deep Singh and Rahul Kumar, Patiala Superintendent of Police (SSP) Hardial Singh Mann said.
Police recovered Rs 2 lakh cash, 12 passports, two laptops, one printer and scanner, 16 rubber stamps, one car and two motorcycles from them, he said.
The head of the gang Sanjiv Kumar along with his two brothers Gulshan Kumar and Mohit Sharma and others used to cheat people on the pretext of sending them abroad by giving advertisements in the newspapers, the SSP said.
Sanjiv Kumar used to operate from his office Graft Consultancy near Namdev Chowk in Jalandhar and had also obtained mobile numbers using forged ID proofs, he said.
The Delhi-based associate of Sanjiv, Davinder Pal Singh had worked with an airline company as a shift supervisor, he said.
The other associate Rahul Kumar had worked in a foreign embassy as a visa officer for two years and he used to get the forged visas stamped, he said.
Further investigations were on in the case, he said.
