Bharati will inspect 25 major drains, which fall into the river at Kanpur and have discussions with local officials, a press statement said here.
She will be accompanied by a team of experts.
The Minister's visit comes against the backdrop of her warning to industries on the banks of the river and its tributaries that are violating pollution norms.
The Supreme Court yesterday took a strong note of the problem and slammed the Centre and state pollution control boards for their "failure" to punish erring units.
Under the Ganga cleaning up scheme, sewage treatment of open drains has been included as high priority in short-term plan.
Simultaneously, officials will visit certain critical stretches in Delhi where drains discharge into river Yamuna.
