"National Ganga River Basin Authority headed by the Prime Minister is not meeting at regular intervals even though its meeting should be held after every three months," Bharti told reporters here today.
The BJP leader, who was here for 'Ganga Samagra Abhiyan', said, "Since the Prime Minister is the chairperson of the authority, it becomes difficult to hold its meetings regularly. Hence, a minister should be deputed to ensure regular meetings."
She asserted that the Authority should focus on the preservation of Ganga river to restore its pristine glory and preserve its sacredness.
"To restore the pristine glory of the Ganga and prevent the activities leading to threatening its existence, the NGRBA should work in the direction as a top priority," Bharti said.
She said her team is studying the local issues related to the river and making people aware of the catchment areas to keep the river pollution free.
The 39-day-long campaign of the BJP leader to make Ganga pollution free, which started on September 21, reached here yesterday.
The campaign will culminate at Gangotri on October 28.
