Delhi Police will get advice of medical experts before proceeding in the case where they have registered an FIR against five doctors of Sir Gangaram hospital for causing death of a woman due to alleged negligence.
"We will seek expert medical advice before further proceeding in the case," Joint Commissioner of Police (Central Range) Sandeep Goel said today.
Police may now constitute a medical board to examine the technical issues of the case, he said.
An FIR under Section 304(A) of IPC (causing death by negligence) was recently registered in the matter at Rajendra Nagar police station following an order by a Delhi court in the 2013 case.
Urmilla Devi, wife of Prem Kishore and a military engineering service officer posted with the Indian Air Force, died after a robotic surgery for retroperitoneal fibrosis.
Kishore has alleged in the FIR that an artery supplying blood to the kidneys was accidentally cut during the surgery which led to acute blood loss causing death.
The police had initially not registered an FIR in the matter following which Kishore approached court. The court then directed police to register an FIR in the case.
