While the day's highest temperature of 39.3 degrees Celsius was recorded at Bankura, Kolkata followed at 38.5 degrees Celsius, according to the MeT department.
Other places in Gangetic West Bengal also remained cooler since the last few days compared to the sizzling heat that had engulfed the region for weeks.
The MeT department has forecast thunderstorm accompanied with rain at isolated places over Bankura, Birbhum, Burdwan, Murshidabad and Nadia districts of Gangetic West Bengal in the coming few days.
