Gangster Ashwin Naik arrested for allegedly threatening a man
Press Trust of India Mumbai Gangster Ashwin Naik was arrested along with the secretary of a residential building in Central Mumbai for allegedly threatening a man, who sought the name transfer of a newly purchased house, the police said today.
According to the police, gangster Naik was arrested at about 2.30 am today while Ashok Jadhav, secretary of a building in the Sambaji Nagar area was nabbed last night on a complaint by one Prakash Patkar.
Patkar had recently purchased a room in the building, where Jadhav is secretary. Patkar had requested Jadhav to complete the formalities so that the house he purchased could be transferred in his name.
"However, Jadhav had been avoiding him since the past few days. He did not want to transfer the house because he may have been planning to usurp the property. Jadhav went to Naik and rang up Patkar from his phone before handing over the mobile to the gangster. Naik then gave Patkar death threats saying he should not trouble Jadhav," Senior Inspector at N M Joshi Marg police station, Shankarsing Rajput said.
Following the complaint from Patkar, accused Jadhav and Naik were picked up and placed under arrest, he said.
The two were produced before a court which granted the duo bail, Rajput said, adding that a further probe is on.
