Gangster, carrying reward of Rs 50,000, held

A gangster, carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head, has been caught in Rohini area of the city, police said today.
Acting on a tip-off, police arrested Jitender Choudhary (24) from near a CNG pump on Kanjhamala Road in Sector 21 of Rohini in last week, DCP(Crime Branch) Joy Tirkey said.
Choudhary, who was an alleged member of Ajay Jadega gang, was also wanted in a sensational case of kidnapping of two businessmen in Uttar Pradesh's Jhansi in which Rs 25 crore ransom was demanded, he said.
The accused is allegedly involved in more than 12 cases including kidnapping for ransom, dacoity, attempt to murder, attack on police team and possession of illegal firearms, the officer said.
He has previously been arrested by the UP Police in seven cases of attempt to murder, robbery and Arms Act including a dacoity of Rs 50 lakh in Agra.
After being released from jail in December 2016, he joined the Ajay Jadeja gang along with his associate Vinod Jat, a dismissed constable of UP Police, he said.

"In the first week of July, Choudhary, Jat, Lokender and Narender Sharma robbed a car from Agra which was used by them in kidnapping of two businessmen Raju Kamraya and Rahul Agarwal from Jhansi on July 12, on the instructions of Jadeja," the officer said.
Jadeja was in constant contact with the family of the kidnapped persons and demanded that Rs 25 crore ransom be transferred overseas through hawala.
The special task force (STF) of the UP Police managed to rescue the businessmen after 12 days of coordinated effort.
Jat and Lokender were arrested by the UP Police but Choudhary was absconding, he added.
