The 41-year-old singer, who helped organise the concert for Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee last month and is also a judge on the UK version of 'The X Factor', will be recognised for his contribution to music over the past two decades, reported The Telegraph online.

"He is one of the UK's most accomplished artists, a unique musician, songwriter and producer who embodies both success and distinction, and who serves as a dedicated ambassador for many charities. I can't think of another artist who works with both Simon Cowell and Her Majesty The Queen," said David Munns, chairman of the award committee.

The 21st annual MIT dinner on November 5 will benefit music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins and the Brit Trust.

Last year's MIT Award winner was Jools Holland, while previous winners include names like Elton John, Tom Jones and Kylie Minogue.
