Gastro-enteritis claims 3 lives

The latest victims were identified as Bal Krishan, Santokh and Gopal Das, official sources said.

Deputy Commissioner Abhinav Trikha today visited the cholera and gastro-enteritis hit area of Gandhi camp and expressed sympathy with the bereaved families.

Trikha said a high-level team had been set up to ascertain the reasons of these deaths.

He also directed to constitute a four-member team of health department, revenue, police and local bodies departments to ascertain the reasons of deaths.

He said the team would conduct a door-to-door survey and present its report to the district administration soon.

Trikha said the Punjab government had identified 274 points from where dirty water of sewerage was mixed into the water supply pipes, and provided more than 500 new water supply connections in Gandhi Camp area.
