Aimed at addressing the growing demand for high voltage transmission equipment, GE has set up a dedicated line at its Padappai facility in line with the 'Make in India' initiative, a company statement said today.
The dedicated 765 kV GIS line is equipped with modern assembly and testing facilities, including a high voltage test transformer of 1,000 kV for carrying Power Frequency Withstand test, it said.
"To cater to the growing demand for 765 kV GIS in India, a dedicated manufacturing line for 765 kV GIS products with advanced testing facilities has been established at our facility in Chennai," GE T&D India Ltd Managing Director Rathin Basu said.
The first locally produced 765kV GIS would be exported to Chile, the statement added.
