Gehlot announces additional budget announcements

A special package of Rs 200 crore for economically backward classes and abolishment of user charges are among other several announcements which Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot today made in his reply on a debate on the state budget 2013-14 in the legislative Assembly here.
"Under the special package, programmes for higher education, employment and others will be undertaken for the economically backward classes," he said.
Gehlot also announced to abolish user charges, sanitation fee which is included in the electricity bills.
In the field of environment, he announced to set up a center of excellence for wildlife in Jaipur and its sub-center in Ranthambore, semi-captive exhibition center for Siberian cranes in Keoladeo national park in Bharatpur.
Infrastructure development works, upgradation of several police outposts to police stations, increase of allowance from Rs 220 per day to Rs 300 per day for volunteers of civil defence, five new municipalities are some of the other announcements made by Gehlot.
The chief minister claimed that the state government presented a surplus budget which was possible because of "robust" financial management.
Earlier, Leader of Opposition and BJP leader Gulab Chand Kataria alleged that the state government just made announcements and did nothing for employment of youths and poor people.
