Condemning the custodial death of a farmer in Bhopalgarh last week, former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot today lashed out at the Vasundhara Raje government on social media alleging that the people of the state have lost all trust in her regime.
He alleged the government has not taken any firm action in the case of Om Prakash's custodial death and termed the suspension of the policemen involved, instead of their arrest, an "eyewash".
He described the Raje government as "heartless, insensitive and apathetic", adding that nothing will happen in the case and everyone will forget it.
"Be it custodial death, rape, suicide, hailstorm or rain-- there is an absolute atmosphere of lawlessness and fearlessness among the police and administration," Gehlot wrote on Facebook.
"The Chief Minister's behaviour, thought process, messages and formal conferences with collectors have led to a situation where no action or investigation is taking place anywhere and the entire law-and-order situation of the state has crumbled. Injustice, atrocities and oppression are on the rise," he alleged, adding that victims are clueless as regards where should they go for redressal of their grievances.
The veteran Congress leader alleged that Raje's working style with officials is "vindictive" which has infused a sense of fear in them and they have lost interest in moving files forward.
Gehlot had come to Jodhpur yesterday and visited Bhopalgarh where he met the family members of Om Prakash.
