It was also decided in a meeting chaired by Gehlot that the foundation stone for work of Phase I-B of the project (from Chandpole to Badi Chaupar) would be laid in September.
Reviewing the progress of Phase I-A (from Mansarovar to Chandpole), the Chief Minister noted that the project was delayed, but asked officials not to compromise with safety and complete all trial runs and formalities before opening it for people.
After the meeting, Gehlot admitted delay in the project and told reporters that it was due to some technical reasons, but progress was satisfactory and the project was going to be functional after necessary checks and formalities.
Stressing that the government was not in a hurry to run trains, Gehlot said, "The project has no connection with election.
"We would like to hold the foundation laying ceremony for the part B of phase one in September and start work on the second phase."
