He also urged the Prime Minister to take steps for providing coal linkage, coal blocks and gas quota for the state's power projects.
During his meeting with the Prime Minister, Gehlot said that Rajasthan is the only state in the country wherein no refinery has been established so far.
Rajasthan is the largest state yet it does not have capacity to produce crude oil in a big way, he said.
"The Chief Minister requested the Prime Minister to personally intervene in the matter and give instruction to concerned authorities to set up an oil refinery in the state so that the people of the state could get the benefits by way of employment and development of Barmer region," a release issued by the state information centre said.
Raising the issue of energy projects, Gehlot said 7,750 MW supercritical technology-based five coal power projects and 330 MW capacity gas-based power project have been cleared by the concerned ministries, but these could not be completed without the Centre's financial assistance.
