Delhi government has decided to give a two-month extension to Gender Resource Centres after a delegation of affected employees met Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal here.
Apart from that, the government has also directed to clear all dues of persons working at Gender Resource Centres (GRCs) which fall under the Mission Convergence programme, launched by the then Sheila Dikshit government in 2008.
Last month, the Mission Convergence (Samajik Suvidha Sangam) of the Delhi Government had issued an order directing the discontinuations of GRCs and district resource centre projects under Samajik Suvidha Sangam from May 31 though the move did not go down well with several social activists
"Government has given a period of two-month extension to these centres which can now operate till July 31 in the national capital. All dues of their employees will soon be cleared by the city government," said a senior government official.
The GRCs had been used by the government in the past to facilitate the common man's access to social initiatives such as Annashree cards, Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana and the Aadhaar card, and thereafter, for the Prime Minister's Jan Dhan Yojana.
The GRCs were providing vocational training in conducting courses in beauty, culture, legal awareness, tailoring, health and other fields.
