'General Hospital' leads Daytime Emmy nominations with 28 nods

Long-running soap opera "General Hospital" picked up 29 nominations at the 42nd annual Daytime Emmy Awards, including the outstanding drama, outstanding lead actor for Anthony Geary and Jason Thompson, and actress for Maura West and Laura Wright.
Outstanding lead actor nominees also include Christian LeBlanc and Billy Miller for "The Young and the Restless", while Alison Sweeney and Peggy McCay for "Days of Our Lives", and Gina Tognoni for "The Young and the Restless" are the outstanding lead actress nominees.
The awards will be held on April 26 and Betty White will be honoured at the ceremony, where she will be presented with a lifetime achievement award.

In the non-soap categories, "The Ellen DeGeneres Show", "Live! With Kelly and Michael", "The Talk" and "The Wendy Williams Show" are nominated for outstanding entertainment talk show, reported People magazine.
Kelly Ripa, Michael Strahan, Wendy Williams and The Talk's Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne, Aisha Tyler and Sheryl Underwood are nominated for outstanding entertainment talk show host.
Hosts of cooking-themed TV talk show, Mario Batali, Carla Hall, Clinton Kelly, Daphne Oz, Michael Symon, picked up a nomination for outstanding informative talk show host, alongside Dr Mehmet Oz and Steve Harvey.
