Chairing a meeting of the Environmental Growth Index Committee here in the presence of noted environmentalist R K Pachauri, Bahuguna said GEP data will be collected in the state to measure environmental growth the way GDP data are collected to measure economic development.
Issuing directives to officials to set the standards for GEP growth, he said a meeting of the committee in this regard will be held later this month.
It was also decided at the meeting to convene a conference of Himalayan states and countries in New Delhi in September to address their environmental concerns.
