German ambassador calls on Punjab governor

Discussing various issues at length, Patil said India enjoys mature bilateral relations and strong socio-cultural linkages with Germany.

Showing keen interest in further strengthening ties with Punjab, Ambassador Michael Steiner inquired from the Governor regarding the scope of industry in the state.

Patil replied that there was a big scope in the areas of food processing, electronic and genetic industry.

He suggested for strengthening partnerships in agri-related ventures especially food processing which has a major scope of collaboration.

Patil said that bold initiatives have taken for generation of more power with focus on tapping solar energy to meet growing demand in different sector of economy as India has great potential for this.

He invited the Ambassador to set up any company in Punjab to manufacture solar panels and the State Government would provide land and all other facilities.

He stressed upon the need for further strengthening economic and trade ties through vibrant partnership and joint ventures in different fields of activities.

Patil presented a set of books which includes Bhagwat Geeta and Das Bodh to the Ambassador.
