German Health Minister to visit India

Aiming to step up cooperation in the health sector, German Health Minister Daniel Bahr will be in India on a three-city tour starting April 27.
Accompanied by senior ministry officials, members of parliament and industry representatives, the minister will interact with policymakers, business leaders, healthcare providers and civil society groups during his visit from April 27 to 30.
On the eve of his visit, Bahr said "Germany's health care system is well-known globally and we have a leading edge with world-class research and development of innovative technologies for better service delivery. My visit to India focuses on sharing our knowhow with Indian partners as well as intensifying our cooperation in areas such as health insurance and medical technology."
He will visit the Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana - India's National Health Insurance scheme for the poor, enrolment camp in rural Gujarat on April 28 and meet with health service personnel involved in the programme.
On 29 April, the Minister will meet his Indian counterpart Ghulam Nabi Azad, Commerce & Industry minister Anand Sharma and Minister of State in the Labour Ministry Kodikunnil Suresh. He will also visit the Central Drug Standard Control Organisation in Delhi.
Daniel Bahr will travel to Mumbai on April 30 where the focus of his consultations will be on trade and industry. He will have series of consultations with German as well Indian industry representatives in health insurance, medical technology and pharmaceutical sectors.
